The October D5 meeting was called to order at 1:40, at which point the recording was started. The speaker for the meeting was Gretchen Eick, who spoke about writing historical fiction and nonfiction. She discussed what she had learned from writing her own books, including her recent award-winner, They Met at Wounded Knee.
Following the presentation, the attendees were prompted to think of a potential historical writing piece and brainstorm ideas about how to research and write it. A photo depicting the Mississippi river flood was given as a possible reference.
The meeting concluded with an announcement about the November meeting with Huascar Medina and Annette Billings. The meeting was adjourned at 3:27.
