Despite the lack of a formal education, Esther Luttrell, author and business woman, is living her dream. Without returning to school, she participated in a PhD grant at a major university, became a screenwriter, film producer and director, and is the author of 15 published books. Her workshops on rebooting, rebuilding and rejoicing are carved from personal experience. She is the perfect example of what being extraordinary is about - personal triumph, achievements despite the odds, turning negatives into positives, and inspiring others to reach their highest potential.
Her presentation, "On Being a Writer," will be the topic of the July 9, 2016, D5 KAC meeting. The Hopi Indians have a legend: "He who tells stories rules the world." That, for some people, is motivation enough to become a writer. But, what does it mean to "be" a writer? How do we actually get in gear and produce those delightful stories dancing around in our brain? How do we discipline ourselves to turn out Danielle Steele volumes of work? What does it take to go from "I want to be a writer" to "I am a writer and I earn my living at it"? With the publishing world in a state of turmoil these days, even if you get from Chapter One all the way to THE END, what do you do then? According to Bowker (provider of bar codes), a book is published every 5 minutes, 24/7. We will cover all of that and more. We may even do a bit of challenge writing! One full hour to go from "I want to be" to "now I'm prepared to do it - and, by thunder, I will do it".
