In January, Claire M. Caterer, a writer of children's/YA fiction with Simon & Schuster, will give a presentation on her experiences in traditional publishing.
Claire M. Caterer was born in the Detroit and raised in the suburbs of Kansas City. After several years of working in publishing in New York, she returned to the KC metro, where she lives today. Her publications include short fiction for Alfred Hitchock, Ellery Queen, and Woman's World magazines; nonfiction articles in Kansas City Parent and other periodicals; and two novels for young readers, The Key & the Flame and The Wand & the Sea, both published by Margaret K. The program will also include a short exercise in writing a good query letter, so participants are encouraged to bring pencil and paper. There will be plenty of time for Q&A as well.
