There are 12 workshops to chose from for FREE for students who are registered for the KAC Our Town Convention workshops this next Saturday at the Holiday Inn East in Wichita. Of special interest to young writers might be a rock 'n' roll journalist, a lyricist and music composer, a documentary filmmaker, and a student publications advisor who will talk about the importance of having a coach and writing mentor, along with quite the variety of other genres.
High school and college students will want to be sure to watch the "Weekend Crew" on KWCH-TV Saturday, September 28 at 10:30 p.m. or Sunday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. to hear about the KAC Convention. Students have free admission to all workshops.

If you're a writer like me, you have so many demands on your time, it's difficult to find a moment to write, much less watch television.
Well, if you missed the chance to catch District 5 members Sara Jones and Cindi Kerr speaking about the 2013 Our Town KAC Convention, all is not lost. Their conversation with Your Hour's Sheryl Nutt is now on the Kansas Authors Club District 5 YouTube channel.
Special thanks to Ron and Sheryl Nutt and KCTU TV for so generously providing the publicity for the 2013 Our Town KAC Convention.
As hosts of this year's KAC convention, District 5 members are sending in our registrations in good numbers. Just in case you've put this off, there's still a savings of $15 when your registration is postmarked between now and Sept. 1. Just $85 for the full convention package.
Please encourage any high school and college students that you know to register for free by Sept. 15 (meals are an extra charge, but optional).
Looking forward to having you join us for a great weekend at the Our Town Convention in Wichita, Oct. 4-6, at the Holiday Inn East.
We'd love to see you there!
There will be some exciting extras to look forward to when you attend the “Our Town” Convention. In the center of “Our Town Bookstore” you will find some great Silent Auction selections for your perusal and drooling. Here is a teaser of a few of the treasures you can expect. Stay tuned for more!
KAC's Our Town Convention is in the spotlight! This afternoon, both Cindi Kerr, one of the two co-chairs, and Sara Jones, convention publicity chair, appeared during the "Your Hour" news segment on KCTU. Tonight, Sara Jones will be back on KCTU's "Mouthy Broads" program shortly after 7:00 p.m. KCTU is a local TV station owned by Ron and Sheryl Nutt (she's a KAC member) in Wichita.
In addition, on Labor Day, tune into KAKE TV to hear Jemelle Holopirek interview Sara Jones about KAC sometime during the one-hour 11:00 a.m. news broadcast. KAC is in the news!
