Join us for the Kansas Authors Club District 5 monthly meeting on Saturday, June 12, 2015, at the Rockwell Branch Library in Wichita. The meeting runs from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Tracy Edingfield Dunn will speak on “Keeping Your Sanity in a Writing World Gone Mad” for the Kansas Authors Club D5 June meeting. She will talk about why she chose to leave the practice of law to pursue a writing career.
Tracy practiced law for twenty years before retiring in 2011 to pursue a writing career. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from KU. After graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law, Tracy became an assistant public defender in Joplin, Missouri, handling misdemeanors and felonies, ranging from Criminal Non-Support to Homicide. In her two-year tenure, she tried eighteen jury trials and achieved a 78% acquittal rating. (Normal rates of acquittal approximate 30%).
She took a job in the private sector, briefly working for a firm in Junction City then returned to her hometown of Wichita to work in the probate firm of Dresie, Jorgensen & Wood. After a few years there she started her own firm, McDowell & Edingfield, Chtd., specializing in divorce law. Eventually, she became a solo practitioner and handled Family Law cases exclusively. She’s also been a mediator for domestic conflicts, putting her psychological background to good use.
Tracy’s married to Adam Dunn and they have two sons. The family is very active in Boy Scouts and all three males in her household belong to the elite scouting group, “Order of the Arrow.”
Tracy has independently published two children’s books: Matt’s Cosmic Rocket Ride and Alex & the Immortals under the pseudonym, Tracy Dunn; she has published The Law Firm of Psycho & Satan and His Sunshine Girl under her name Tracy Edingfield. Digital copies of her books can be purchased through iTunes or www.smashwords.com.
Currently, she is working on a sequel entitled, Alex & the Lost Souls, and another Regency romance called A Governess’ Lot.
KAC meetings are open to the public free of charge. Hope to see you there!
