Sam Majdi, a retired teacher of English with over 30 years experience in teaching English in high schools and colleges. He holds a B.A. in English literature and is a long time member of Kansas Authors Club, District 5. His first book, Lovers Paradise Book of 222 Love Quotations was self published and is a unique collection of selected quotations about Love, Beauty, and Truth, from 111 poets and notables of the world. It contains a short biography for each individual, plus a Names Index, a comprehensive glossary, and an Anonymous section. It is a memorable gift and ideal for personal enjoyment. You can purchase the book online or directly from the author.
After many years of study and research, the author was able to have his second book, The Wisdom of the Great, published on demand by iUniverse in 2012. Available in soft cover and eBook format, the book contains over 2600 quotations from 450 notables of the world in 50 countries. The first 246 individuals have detailed biographies, with the exact date and place of birth and death and the place of birth and death, and the rest have shorter biographies. Arranged chronologically, the book includes a Names Index, a detailed Subject Index, a comprehensive Glossary, and an Anonymous section. Reading this life changing book gives you the best opportunity to capture the wisdom, works, adventures, and achievements of literary figures, kings, queens, Emperors, athletes, political and religious leaders, scientists, statesmen, etc, in the span of thirty centuries. It is not only a quotation book but also a literary piece, a book of biography, and an accurate reference book, quite unique in its kind. The book can be ordered through iUniverse, online, or direct from the author. Submitted by Sam Majdi. Dear KAC Board Members & Friends --
I have the winning KAC youth entries in hand and I could use a little assistance in preparing the book. I need a few volunteers who are quick and precise with a keyboard. All I need is for entries to be typed into a single document (preferably MS Word, but I can work with alternatives) and sent to me via an attachment in an email. I can divide the work into several packets to share the job. Entries will arrive to you in a scanned document (and if anyone is wondering, I've tested OCR recognition software and it's workable, but will require a LOT of cleanup. I'd prefer humans typing who can quickly proof their own work.) No formatting necessary. This is a straight typing job. Originals will be delivered to volunteers via PDF file. If I could hear from volunteers by Friday, August 22, I'll divide the entries and try to get everything distributed this weekend. Would be lovely to have it all back within the week -- so due August 29? I need to have plenty of time to get this to Mennonite to print prior to the convention. I likely have room for a proofreader or two, as well, when the book is formatted. Let me know if you would like to volunteer for that in early September. Please pass this request on to any KAC members you think might be interested in helping. Thank you! Tracy Million Simmons The program for September is: How to Be a Great Writer. Our speaker will be Bonnie Tharp, a local Wichita published author of two women’s fiction novels: Feisty Family Values and Patchwork Family. Come and be inspired by Bonnie. She has a full-time job, writes women fiction novels, owns Scribble LLC - Freelance Writing With a Flair for corporations, and does an outstanding job of promoting her writing.
