Dear KAC District 5 Members,
Here's a summary of April's District 5 meeting.

The meeting was called to order at 1:30 PM by Diane Wahto, and Ray (Griz) Racobs gave the Treasurer’s report with a balance on hand of $7,043.23, with another check of $31 to deposit. He stated that a couple of checks would be provided to pay musicians for the Evening of Poetry and Music which will be held at Fisch Haus Tuesday evening, April 11.
Diane Noted that April is Poetry Month and there are several upcoming events:
-Evening of Poetry and Music this coming Tuesday, April 11, at Fisch Haus 524 S. Commerce, Wichita.
-Keep checking “Alive This Weekend” on Facebook for events of interest. This is ongoing.
-Third Saturday each month at City Arts, they host a Feast of Poetry, 1:30 PM.
-Coming October 27-29, 2017 Poetry Rendezvous will be in Wichita at Hotel at Water Walk.
Michael is the husband of our Vice President Gretchen Eick, a retired pastor, “activist”, and now owner of a small printing press. He spoke on Poetry and on small-press printing. Michael has written since his teens and emphasized the need to write something every day. His first book of poetry, Born, was published in 1975, and has published several subsequent books of poetry. He has used a publisher and has also self-published. Today he owns Blue Cedar Press here in Wichita, and is working to develop it, hoping to find donors and grants to help with this.
The meeting adjourned at 3:30 with some visiting allowed afterward. Next meeting will be May 12, and the Larksfield Place auditorium at the east end of the building.
Connie White, Secretary
